I live in Grand Rapids, MI. Not a huge airline hub. Frontier flies nonstop to Denver from GR - wow! - and for cheap.
I'm on a mission to visit as many national parks as possible, so holiday weekend, let's go!

TRIP COST FOR 2
Duration: 4 days, 3 nights (6/3/19-6/6/19)
Flight: $305/person (GRR <> DEN)
Lodging: $495
Rental Car: $360
Misc: $305
Total: $1465
Per Person Total = $732.50

I wanted to camp, but there were ZERO campgrounds open, so I had to get an airbnb & there were very few left.

DAY 1: BEAR LAKE AREA
  • Emerald Lake Trail (moderate - 3.1mi, 700ft elevation gain)
    • This trail goes to Bear Lake, Dream Lake, Nymph Lake & Emerald Lake
    • Still snowy/icy in some spots in July!
    • There's a small parking lot nearby, but if you don't get there before 6am, you have to park in the overflow lot & take a shuttle
  • Estes Park Brewing Company (just okay)
  • This "moderate" hike really took it's toll on us, so we called it a night early.
    • But Estes Park & Grand Lake are both supposed to have amazing fireworks shows!

LODGING

DAY 2: TRAIL RIDGE ROAD
  • Got up super early at 5:00 to get the very last parking spot just before 6am, near the Alberta Falls Trail
  • Alberta Falls Trail (.6mi, easy)
  • We then drove the trail ridge road stopping at
    • Many Parks Curve Overlook
    • Gore Range Overlook
    • Small hike to the waterfall at Alluvial Fan
    • Alpine Visitor Center (great views during lunch!)
    • We were hoping to take the one-way dirt road, but it was closed
  • Drove all the way to Grand Lake
    • Did a short hike (.9 mi, easy) to Adams Falls
  • Drove trail ridge road back
    • Sprague Lake trail (.8mi, easy) around the lake

LODGING
Airbnb by the Denver airport

*Note: Our flight left after a full work day, we flew & drove to Estes Park in
Last day we left super early the next morning, so 4 days total, but 2 days in Estes Park.
